Mistyglen Irish Wolfhounds
Welcome!
Mistyglen Irish Wolfhounds was started in 1997 by my mother Mary-Jo Kirk with one wolfhound CH. Noramat Abbe. After "Abbe" came Ch. Flying Doyle at Misty Glen and CH. Flying Ceara Command. Not long after Mistyglen became a registered kennel. Mistyglen is about 75 miles NE of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Our kennel is situated on 1000 acres of land outside of the small hamlet of Newbrook
We enjoy the quiet of the country, but have many visitors to our home, so our dogs interact with people of all ages and are socialized well right from the start. We strive for a well balanced dog in mind and body. Dogs who will do equally well in the ring or as a loving companion.
We show our dogs in the conformation ring . Over the years we have taken many dogs to their Championships and for several years running kept our hounds in the top 10 standings for our breed. We enjoy the friendly competition of the show ring and have met many interesting people and quite a few unforgettable hounds.
Over the years we have had the pleasure of being involved in lure coursing and most of our dogs have at one time or other been involved in therapy work with the elderly. Some have participated in training seminars for new judges, parades and desensitizing therapy work with children.
We have been dedicated for over 20 years to breed dogs as true to the breed standard as possible. Our goal is to protect and preserve the Irish Wolfhound breed for future generations to come. My husband and I are honored to take on the kennel my mother started years ago.
